Self-Managed Teams
The concept of self-managed teams grew out of the research in setting a Learning
Organisation in that given the right training and guidance, teams of individuals could
work as a motivated unit as well, or better, than the traditional team with an appointed
leader.
The academy has designed a special 2-day course that gives a full understanding of
the process needed to set up self-motivated teams within an organisation.
The essential elements of the process are:
- That each member of the team has working knowledge of every function within the team
- That the goals and objectives of the team must be easily understood by all
- The recognition that some degree of shadowing will be required at start date and
that the team slowly takes control in precise, incremental steps
- Targets must be clearly defined and their achievement attainable
