BACT
Brain Analytical and Creative Thinking

BACT
Brain Analytical and Creative Thinking

Think the way your brain naturally thinks:

  • Many times more powerful than brainstorming
  • Applies equally to the individual as well as the group
  • Applies to any age or position

The BACT Programme from BAAT utilises the power of creative and analytical thinking to significantly improve the performance of any organisation!

The course consists of 5 stages:

  • Write - Left Brain
  • Draw - Right Brain
  • Fragment - Left Brain
  • Generate - Right Brain
  • Validate - Both Hemispheres

It can be seen that the system moves the hemispheric focus of the brain from one to the other and finally, to turn creativity into innovation it uses both the hemispheres.

The Process:

  • Defining the problem clearly for creative focus to start. This stage is called 'write'. In a group activity each member, on their own, defines the problem in their own terms; also the problem is defined from another point of view when the problem involves other people
  • Drain all participating brains of any possible ideas of which they can think. These two activities involve the left-brain mode of thinking
  • The participants are then asked to draw the problem, any ideas that may result from this activity are recorded but not judged. This activity uses the right hemisphere thinking mode
  • The next phase is to fragment the problem into small pieces. This is achieved by asking questions: a series of questions are available with the scheme (ones that are more specific can be added at any time). This activity has thrown the thinking process back to the logical left hemisphere
  • The next stage is to generate possible solutions and it is this activity that is the very heart of the system. This is achieved by taking random groups of fragments and stimulating the brain to come up with solutions based on that group of fragments. When exhausted, another group of random fragments is used to generate more solutions. This process continues until most of the fragments have been used
  • The final stage is where the system pivots creative thought into practical innovation. This stage is called 'validation'

The process is structured and focused on the problem, thus preventing wayward focus that wastes time and effort. Even in the generation phase, all creative thinking is focused on the problem. Many of the activity sheets are prepared so that the process takes little time and also eliminates the judgemental thinking that often kills effective, creative thought. In addition, individuals can express their own opinions prior to the creative activity on their own without peer influence.

In every session, each person is treated as an equal.

How long does it take to train the system?

Initial training in the system takes 1 day. After that, all other training can be carried-out in the activity itself. Hence, zero time is taken for its use and re-use
